Well the stories that you find on this page and some that will follow are all true! Now I know that there are people that don't believe in ghosts but if you try a small experiment by taking a camera and going into a graveyard at or after dusk and taking pictures you'll see what I mean. If you got a story that you would like for me to post here be sure to send it in to me and I'll post it ASAP! My hubby's grandmother had purchased her sister's home in an auction after her death. When my hubby and I got married in 1992, his grandmother told us she would sell the place to us and we could live there. We moved in shortly after we were married. I was also 6 months pregnant at the time and he was out of town alot. During the first month everything went great. He would go out of town and I would stay at home by myself. But things started changing. I would be waken during the middle of the night by whispering and footsteps in the house. I would turn the lights on and the whispering would stop and there would be noone in the house but me. I told my hubby about it but he said I just wasn't used to being alone so we agreed that I would have someone to stay with me. The next week he went out of town, I had my sister and brother to stay with me. They soon heard the whispering and footsteps themselves. My brother had a friend of his to come and stay with him one night. They stayed up late playing super ninetendo and the next morning when we woke his friend was gone. We went and found his friend and asked why he had left during the night. He replied, " There's something weird about that damn house, I heard all kinds of whispering and stuff when I was trying to go too sleep." He also said that he saw a little man about 2 ft in height run across the floor right before his eyes. He said it wasn't a man though, it looked more like a little devil. He said it had a pointed tale and horns on it's head. That was enough for me. It made cold chills run up my spine. When my hubby came home that Friday, I told him I didn't want to stay in the house anymore unless he was there with me. We agreed that while he was gone I'd stay with my mom til he came home on the weekends. That next week, I went to the house to clean it. The house had two doors. One in the living room and one in the kitchen. I cleaned the living room and checked the door to make sure it was locked before I made my way to the kitchen. I was cleaning the glass in the kitchen door and all of a sudden the living room door flew open and rocks came flying into the house. The fan that was sitting on the table was knocked to the ground. I totally freaked out. I grabbed my puppy, headed out the kitchen door and got in my car and drove to my grandparents house. When I got there, my grandmother told my grandfather to go back to the house with me until I got what I needed to get from there. When we entered the house, the fan was back on the table, there was no rocks in the floor and the door had closed and locked by itself. We moved from that house shortly afterwards. We didn't know at the time that we had moved in that my hubby's uncle had beaten his wife so badly in the house one night that there was blood stains on the bedroom walls. They were painted dark blue to cover up the stains. We also found out that his uncle had taken sick in the house and had argued with his wife the night of his death to leave him alone, he had told her that he wanted to die in peace at home. Against his wishes, she started to the hospital with him but he was dead by the time they got there. Soon after his death she passed on as well. Many people have told me stories about the old man. He would get drunk and beat his wife unconscious at times. Many say he was a very mean and spiteful old man while he was living. They say that his spriit probably remains inside the house. I, for one, have no intentions of ever stepping foot back inside the door of that house again. Submitted by Tonya This is another story for you. It's kind of funny in a way. It was told to me by my hubby. Wanting to make alittle extra money, two old guys (Travis and Phillip) went to see a good friend to see if it would be okay for them to move a small mobile home onto his property to bootleg (selling beer illegally) out of. Being a good friend and agreeing on some rent the friend gave them permission to move their mobile home on his property. So Travis and Phillip get their small mobile home moved in and they start bootlegging. They were sitting around the table one night counting their profits of the day and the back door flies open. Travis tells Phillip to go close the back door. He does so and they go back to their counting. The back door flies open again except this time it's not only the back door but the refridgerator door opens by itself as well. Phillip gets up from the table and goes and shuts both doors and comes back and gets a fork from the kitchen. Curious, Travis asks Phillip what he's gonna do with the fork. Phillip tells Travis to come with him and he'll show him. They get to the back door and Phillip sticks the fork down through the lock loop and bends it over. They stand there and watch the door for a few minutes. The fork straightens itself back out and flies into the air. Mesmerized Phillip picks up the fork and looks at it. You couldn't tell it had been bent. The back door flies open again and they head out the front door. They moved their little mobile home out the next day and haven't been back to the spot since. Submitted by Tonya Ghost Cat In 1910, a man named Isaac Thompson lived alone in a log cabin on a small stream called Cat Holler (so called because when the first settlers came to the area, they found several panthers or mountain lions living in the rock overhangs along this creek) in Owsley County. Isaac made a precarious living by farming a few acres of corn and a small garden. His other source of food was to help local farmers when they butchered hogs or cattle in the fall. One November evening, as he was returning home from having helped a neighbor kill and dress a steer, Isaac was carrying a large piece of fresh meat in a cloth sack. Although no panthers or mountain lions had been seen in the vicinity for over fifty years, a huge cat of some kind, prowling the night in search of food, smelled the bloody prize. It followed Isaac until the right moment, then it leaped, tearing the beef from his shoulders and the life from his body. His dying screams echoed in the crisp Autumn night, where they can sometimes still be heard. Today, no traces of Isaac Thompson's cabin remain, but people living a few miles away say that hunters have heard the screams of a mountain lion at night as recently as 1983. The sounds are not those of a domestic cat; they have been taped and positively identified as being that of a mountain lion or cougar. Thorough searches have been made, but no animal tracks or any other indication of a large cat have been found. No one has seen anything unusual on this stream, but several people say they have heard the unmistakable sound of a man crying out in agony at the same time the cat's screams are heard. Submitted by Tonya Gravity Hill, Princeton Kentucky- The story behind Gravity Hill is that in the early 1900's a man and his 2 daughters were killed at the bottom of the hill when his truck stalled and was hit head on by an Ice truck making early morning deliveries. Seems that if you park your car at the bottom of the hill and shut everything off, put your vehicle into nuetral the spirits will push your vehicle up the hill so you wont die like they did. Russellville KY- On an unspecified date in the late 1800's, a young woman checked into the Harrodsburg Springs Hotel in this small Kentucky town. She used a false name, and while no one knew her true identity, they recalled that she was quite beautiful. That night, as music played in the ballroom, the girl came downstairs and began dancing with various partners. The young men of the town eagerly lined up for their turn to dance with the beautiful young girl. The girl danced passionately and at the end of the night, her final partner realized, that to his horror, the young girl had literally died in his arms. The shocked staff and guests held a funeral for this mysterious girl and she was buried on the hotel's property. As time has passed, local residents claim that this mysterious girl still returns to the site of the hotel. She has been seen lingering in the moonlight, slowly dancing and twirling to music tThe hotel is gone now. It burned down more than fifty years ago, although the grave remains in what is now a public park. There is a metal marker over her resting places that reads... "UNKNOWN - Hallowed and Hushed be the place of the dead. Step Softly. Bow Head." Submitted by Tonya

Found at Most Haunted Places in Michigan Reading - The Old Abbott Mansion - This old house located on Abbott Road is said to have many mysterious things occurring there. Legend says that when the last of the Abbott family was on their death bed, they sold the property on one condition. The home had to be torn down and the property used as farm land. Needless to say, it was not. People that have been inside the house report shades that rise and lower themselves, lights turning off and on , and a gruesome face appearing in one of the windows. There have also been complaints about the French doors locking from the opposite side, a loud banging on the floor at 3:00am, and mysterious dusty footprints that appear on every other step leading upstairs. The puzzling thing about the footprints is that only a visitor to the house seems able to wipe them away. There was even a tenant whose pet dog died in such a gruesome manner that police felt as if a human hand could not have done such damage. Cats seem to remain unharmed. You will never see any birds or other wild animals near the house though. The young son of a tenant once left his T-shirt lying on the floor and a mysterious light satrted glowing around it. Shortly thereafter, the child was accidentally shot and killed. Found at Most Haunted Places in Michigan Pontiac-Clinton Valley Mental Institution. During late night exploration of the deserted Clinton Valley Victorian buildings and grounds, we stumbled upon the wing once used for ECT. As we crept down a dim flashlight lit antiseptic hall, we heard a crashing sound resounding through the building. In a dank, resoundingly evil corner room we fleetingly glimpsed a horrifying image of a shock gurney thrashing up and down. It was as if a suffering patient was invisibly being tortured by the rudimentary treatments of the early 20th century. One agonized shriek drove us running from the building. Once outside, our defenses down, the terror was added to. A sinister man crossed our paths dragging a large sack. Just the right size for a corpse. Found at Most Haunted Places in Michigan |
